The US Army has delayed a decision on the Interim Armored Vehicle, the light armored car (LAV or Light Armored Vehicle) that will equip seven brigades after the transition to a "medium" force. The Army plans to buy 2,100 of the vehicles, but all of the candidates had several problems which will have to be answered in their bids. The move also delays the entire program into the next administration, which might seriously modify its goals, objectives, and missions.-Stephen V Cole
