Armor: November 9, 2000

The UAE is the first customer to receive the Terrier 4x4 armored personnel carrier. Developed by Krauss Maffei Wegmann of Germany and Iveco of Italy, the Terrier is basically an Iveco 40-12WM 4x4 truck with an armored steel body. The armor protects the crew from 7.62mm bullets and land mines. Terrier is a further improvement of the Boneschi MAV-5, of which the Italian Army bought 200. Terrier can carry a driver, commander, and six fully-equipped troops (who ride in the back on folding seats). A machinegun can be mounted on the roof if necessary.--Stephen V Cole
