The British Army is looking for 1500 new armored vehicles, with deliveries to start by 2007. These would be lighter than the current Warrior and Chieftain vehicles, allowing greater strategic mobility for less intense conflicts. The Future Rapid Effects System will all be based on the same chassis (possibly the LAV 8x8 Mowag Piranha) and will include an armored personnel carrier, infantry fighting vehicle, direct-fire cannon vehicle, anti-tank missile vehicle, command vehicle, logistics vehicle, ambulance, recon vehicle, armored repair & recovery vehicle, engineer vehicle, anti-aircraft vehicle, and a vehicle to carry unmanned air vehicles.--Stephen V Cole
