: The Polish Army is reviewing bids for 240 wheeled 8x8 armored infantry fighting vehicles for delivery from 2003-2006. Three Polish companies are bidding, each offering a license-built version of a foreign vehicle:

@ Huta Stalow Wola is offering the Swiss Piranha-III LAV.

@ OBRUM is offering the Austrian Pandur.

@ Wojskowe Zaklady Motoryzacyjne is offering the Finnish Patria XA-203. The vehicles are to carry a gun of 25-30mm and have space for a two-barrel anti-tank missile launcher. It is expected that after these vehicles are delivered, another 100 (perhaps in a 6x6 variant) will be ordered for use as anti-tank, mortar, command, engineer, and recon vehicles.--Stephen V Cole
