On 28 June, Indian Defense industry sources told the press that Russia will ship the third and last batch of 44 T-90S tanks to India in about a month. The first two groups of T-90S tanks were shipped to India without the 9M119 Refleks (NATO designation AT-11 Sniper) missile systems, since the missile system showed lower than standard accuracy during pre-shipment firing tests carried out in 2001. This could be due to the fact that the Reflex missile system was originally designed for the T-80 tank and needs extra adjustment to work with the T-90. The manufacturers hope to fix the problem by the end of summer, so that all the Indian T-90S tanks can be equipped with missiles by the end of 2002. - Adam Geibel
