There’s now an IED and RPG resistant truck on the market, the 15 ton Wildcat. The vehicle is armored to defeat heavy machine-gun fire (.50 caliber and 14.5mm), as well as RPGs. The shape of the vehicle reduces the effects of IED blasts. Israeli developed technology has been applied to a 4x4 truck chassis from Czech manufacturer TATRA to create the Wildcat design. ATC (American Truck Company) puts it all together, along with a remote control (from inside the vehicle) machine-gun turret. The vehicle is air conditioned, carries twelve passengers, and is protected against chemical weapons. The vehicle is intended for the peacekeeping market, which growing. Private security companies are expected to be big customers for the Wildcat.
