March 2, 2011:
China has introduced an amphibious Tributary Engineering Recon Vehicle for its engineering units. The five ton truck is designed to survey China's many rivers. This includes mapping them, as well as measuring water depth and velocity as well as locating navigation hazards. The vehicles were the result of a ten year development process. In wartime, the vehicles would perform the same functions, more quickly, in a combat zone, to enable bridges to be built more quickly and cargo to be safely moved along rivers and other inland waterways.
