The Army is seeking serious pay raises for warrant officers. Recent pay raises for enlisted personnel mean that a senior sergeant accepting a warrant (and the increased responsibilities that go with that rank) gets only a minor pay raise, and many prospective warrants have decided it isn't worth it.
