January5, 2007: One reason Canadian troops in Afghanistan have requested some tanks, is because in the area where they operate, the local farmers have been producing lots of marijuana, a plant that, once its gets over ten feet tall, becomes difficult for the Canadian wheeled armored vehicles to travel through. Not only do the plants foul the mechanical components of the vehicles, but also hide irrigation ditches and other obstacles. So having a tank along, you have a vehicle that can lead the way through the fields of grass, and not be bothered by ditches and other obstacles.
