INTO THE SHADOWS: The Navy is retiring its fleet of ES-3A Shadow tactical electronic intelligence aircraft only seven years after the first entered service. Only 16 of the planned fleet of 36 were built; and the two squadrons (VQ-5 and VQ-6) have been disbanded.--Stephen V Cole
