France will have to pay an extra $86 million to fix the design problems in its new carrier Charles de Gaulle. The deck must be lengthened by 4.4 meters to allow E-2C radar planes to quickly clear the landing area during combat operations. The nuclear reactors will need more shielding to comply with new EU standards. The rudder vibrates excessively.
