MAYPORT, Fla. (April 9, 2012) The littoral combat ship USS Independence (LCS 2) pulls out of Naval Station Mayport as the ship begins transit to her homeport of San Diego. Sailors from Independence's Gold Crew and embarked Mine Countermeasures (MCM) Squadron, Detachment 1, are underway for the ship's maiden voyage to San Diego after completing testing on the MCM mission package.
