Military Photo: Hustler

Convair B-58A Hustler in flight. The photo was taken on June 29, 1967. The Hustler was the first operational bomber that could fly at Mach 2. The Convair had a short operational life being only active from 1960 - 1970 and was never used in combat to drop conventional munitions. The Soviet Union developed the high altitude SA-2 missile which would have forced the B-57 into using low altitude tactics which it was ill-equipped to perform. A great looking aircraft with limited use. (U.S. Air Force photo)
