Some 170,000 Afghans have fled to Pakistan in the last five months. The Pakistanis have refused to set up additional refugee camps. Pakistan already has some 3.2 million Afghans, only 1.2 million of them are recognized as refugees, the rest are considered illegal immigrants. Although the Pakistani government is a firm ally of the Taliban, the governors of the Pakistani border areas are less committed and getting rather tired of it all.
