Warlords battling in northern Afghanistan have agreed to a truce and to withdraw their troops and tanks from Mazar-I-Sharif. 

U.S., British and Canadian troops began scouring the Tori Khel mountains in Paktia province (on the Pakistan border.)

Canadian troops exhumed bodies of al Qaeda fighters in the Tora Bora region to see if any where senior Taliban or al Qaeda members. Over the past few months, the United States has been compiling a DNA database of these people. The Canadians questioned local villagers and found heretofore unknown graves of dozens of dead fighters.
