 Some 50 kilometers north of the capital, two US army patrols were fired on. There were no injures. The two patrols were about five kilometers from each other.

On the Pakistan border, another US patrol killed one gunman and wounded another, who escaped into Pakistan. US patrols continue to find and destroy weapons caches.
