A small force of Taliban attacked a police compound in a town 70 kilometers southeast of Kandahar. The garrison, plus reinforcements, defeated the Taliban, killing seven of them and capturing four. One soldier was killed. One of the dead was a known Taliban commander in the area. Kandahar was the area many Taliban followers, and most of the senior leaders, came from.
