Warlord Abdul Rashid Dostam, who controls about 100,000 tribal warriors in the north, has called for all irregular forces to come under some kind of national control. Dostam is a Uzbek (a Turkish group) and the area he controls also  contains Tajiks (who are Indo-Europeans) and Hazaras (who are Mongols). Technically, the warlord militias are under the control of the national government, but they aren't. The national government provides no pay or weapons, and not much equipment, to the tribal gunmen.
