The Afghan army, although it only has 6,000 troops available for field duty, is spending most of it's time out looking for Taliban and al Qaeda. The Afghan army regularly work with American troops and are learning how to operate using American equipment and techniques. American advisors continue to serve with the Afghan battalions, and the Afghan troops continue to improve their battlefield skills. In the past, Afghan troops were rarely well trained, but were simply used as the traditional irregular warriors who serve so many warlords.
Operation Mountain Storm continued in southeastern Afghanistan, with three Taliban killed three Taliban and arrested five suspects.
