A roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan killed one American soldier, and wounded four others. The troops were there to assist in providing security for upcoming national elections. The Taliban has said they will disrupt the elections. Unlike the last national elections, which the Taliban totally failed to disrupt, this time the Taliban are concentrating on just two border provinces. The government is concentrating troops there as well, and most of the current violence is taking place in these areas along the Pakistan border.
