: An AFP report may indicate who killed the two Serb policemen in south Serbia on August 3. AFP reported that it received a statement (delivered in Kosovo) from a group identifying itself as The Albanian National Army (ANA). ANA claimed responsibility for the murders, saying an ANA special unit conducted the operation inside Serbia. Analysts pointed out the killing took place near the Serb village of Muhovac. Muhovac had been a key village in the area controlled by one of the UCPMBs most radical commanders, Muhamet Xhemaili. Serb sources had speculated that the murders were committed by a UCPMB splinter group that had not accepted the peace agreement.
