Slovenia said that it is interested in making an arrangement with Hungary for the patrol of Slovenian airspace by the Hungarian Air Force. Slovenia wants to avoid buying expensive fighter aircraft. Hungary is willing to provide the air patrol but said its air force would need some reinforcement to fulfill the mission requirements. Hungary plans on acquiring 14 SAAB Gripens in 2006. Hungary currently operates MiG-29s.
