Kirghiz troops advanced 20 kilometers into the mountains in pursuit of Islamic rebels who are holding thirteen hostages since August 21st. The government reports that they have inflicted heavy losses  on the rebels, killing at least fifty and wounding over a hundred in the last month. Most of the losses were apparently inflicted in the last week.
