ERG rebels released an aid worker they had held for six months. ERG is a splinter group of the communist ELN rebels. ERG only has a few hundred members and they had been trying to get the government to give them a demilitarized zone in return for releasing their hostage. The government refused. Meanwhile, the government told FARC that if they wanted to keep their demilitarized zone, they would have to reopen peace negotiations.
