India detained eleven men holding Iranian passports as the men tried to board Bangladesh aircraft in Calcutta. The accused hijackers were said to be attempting to free men convicted of assassinating the founded of Bangladesh in a 1975 coup. The convictions came only last year, and only four of the convicted men are in prison.
