Artillery and mortar fire, plus machine-gun fire, across the Kashmiri line of control caused much property damage and numerous casualties. Elsewhere in Kashmir, rebels kidnapped three men, killed two while another escaped. Several incidents in Kashmir resulted in at least half a dozen dead, including a Hizbul Mujahideen leader.
