Production work has begun in Russia on the first four Ka-31 Helix-B radar warning helicopters for the Indian Navy. Total cost of the four aircraft is $92 million; the Indian Navy expects to buy as many as ten. The Ka-31 has a six-square-meter rotating antenna and can detect 200 targets and track 20. The radar can detect fighters at 150km, bombers at 200km, and warships at 250km. The aircraft include advanced flight controls with a 12-channel GPS receiver.--Stephen V Cole
