Pakistani media, and a lot of public opinion, has gotten behind the government vow to track down and punish the group that kidnapped and killed Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Public opinion has been turning against Islamic radicals over the last few years, and the Pearl case provides the government with even more leeway to hunt down and take out the more extreme Islamic radical groups. But the more moderate groups, including several that support fighting in Kashmir, also see the shifts in public opinion, and are modifying their operations to avoid the crack down.
