Pakistans newly elected parliament, dominated by conservative Islamic parties, are demanding the president Musharraf surrender his veto power over parliamentary decisions. The parties threaten civil disorder and worse if Musharraf does not comply. Meanwhile, Musharraf is trying to shut down Islamic radical organizations that threaten peace with India and support international terrorism.
