 In southern Pakistan, bombs went off on railroad tracks, and only quick response by railroad officials prevented nearby passenger trains from getting derailed and killing hundreds. No one took responsibility for the attacks, although one tribal faction or another is suspected.

In the Pakistani city of Karachi, another Shia leader was murdered, which led to Shias rioting.
