Maoist PWG rebels in southern India killed three ruling party officials and attacked busses carrying people to a political rally. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has called for more vigorous action against the PWG, and the Maoists have responded by attacking party members. The rallies went on anyway and popular anger against the Maoists has increased. For years, the Maoists were dismissed as another form of banditry and left to the police. But as popular anger against the Maoists increased, enthusiasm for wiping out the Maoists has shown up.
