 India and Pakistan are deadlocked over Kashmir. The peace talks are basically about solving the dispute over who should control the Indian controlled portion of Kashmir. The majority of the population there is Moslem, thus Pakistan insists that the territory should be part of Pakistan. The dispute is over half a century old, and has caused several wars between India and Pakistan. Currently, Pakistan refuses to provide maps of their side of the border, which is stalling further discussion.
