  Reform minded legislators pushed forward their controversial proposal to outlaw the current arrangement that gives religious leaders veto power over the legislature and government. The conservatives are publicly denouncing the proposal as illegal, and privately fearful the move will spark a popular uprising the conservatives will lose. The crunch will likely come before the end of the year.
