British and US warplanes bombed Iraqi anti-aircraft guns in Northern Iraq. The . Iraqi guns had opened fire first. The US announced that it was going to provide military training to members of the Iraqi opposition. However, the Iraqi opposition is badly split by religious, political and personal disputes. But the US government is under a lot of pressure to do something. The low key  bombing campaign against Iraq is not accomplishing much except to destroy some of Iraq's anti-aircraft weapons and equipment. This is not having any major military or diplomatic effect on Iraq.
