The US will expand both of Kuwait's military airfields to handle more aircraft, and to survive attacks on them by missiles, commandos, or strike aircraft. The US also plans to establish a permanent brigade headquarters in Kuwait that could control Army battalions sent there for exercises.--Stephen V Cole

November 15; British and US warplanes attacked targets in north and south Iraq because of Iraqi challenges to British and US airborne patrols over the no-fly zones.
