In Kurdish controlled northern Iraq, Kurdish troops clashed with al Qaeda groups (Ansar al-Islam) along the Iranian border. Five people died. More Ansar al-Islam members were arrested in the Kurdish town of Abril, but some escaped to the Iraqi city of Mosul, indicating that Saddam is supporting Ansar al-Islam.
