Israeli troops surrounded the office complex Palestinian Authority leader Arafat is in and confining him to that area. F-16's also destroyed a Palestinian Authority complex in Tulkarem, the hometown of the gunman who killed six Israelis earlier in the day. Israel is restricting the movement of Palestinian leaders, and destroying more Palestinian Authority property, until the Palestinians stop their terrorist factions from attacking Israelis.

Over night, a Palestinian belonging to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade shot his way into an Israeli social affair and opened fire with an AK-47, killing six and wounding 31 before being killed. Attacks like this are difficult for the Palestinians to prevent, given the dozens of Palestinian radical organizations that believe in the destruction of Israel. Israelis back prompt and decisive retaliation for these attacks. Particularly popular with Israelis (getting a 70 percent approval rating) are attacks on individual terrorist leaders. These attacks continue.
