Israeli warplanes attacked Hizbollah bases in southern Lebanon, in retaliation for the Hizbollah attack on Israeli troops the day before. The US considers Hizbollah an international terrorist organization and has threatened to take action against it. While Hizbollah is supported by Iran, it is protected in Lebanon by Syria. Iran still officially proclaims its intention of destroying Israel. Syria is negotiating negotiations.
