MODEL rebels agreed to halt their advances on Government positions around the port of Buchanan, as a result of appeals from the United States Government. However, the rebel forces said they would defend their positions if attacked. Meanwhile, the Australians followed the Americans' lead by advising their citizens in Liberia to "depart with the first available flight". - Adam Geibel
