The disarmament program is being suspended for a month so that the capacity of the disarmament center can be increased. The problem is that too many men showed up to turn in their weapons. The disarmament camp set up outside the capital could handle 250 men a day, but were getting over a thousand men a day, with over 9,000 backed up. As a result, some of the men who came to surrender, and found they could not, went off with their guns and resumed looting and pillaging. The demobilization camp is being expanded to deal with many more fighters at a time.
