September 10, 2007:
In the
last week, seven bombs have been planted in the capital. Two were defused and
five went off. Four have died, and over 30 wounded. Southern separatists
claimed responsibility, although the Maoists blamed royalists. The Maoists feel
they are losing power to the separatists and tribal parties. Maoist splinter
groups are fighting each other, and the Maoists have revived their
"peoples courts" to try and restore order in areas they control. The
national elections take place in two months, and there's fear that the Maoists
will resume fighting if the voting doesn't go their way.
