Faced with increasing rebel violence, the government says it will form a 15,000 man police task force to deal with the problem. It will cost $30 million to train and equip the force. Rebels bombed a government minister's home. A Buddhist monastery was also bombed, as were two taxis and two trucks that defied the general strike the rebels had declared for today, and were enforcing with violence.
