 The army and police prevented the rebels from taking Khalanga, a battle that left at at least 88 rebels dead, plus 33 police, four soldiers and three local civilians. In addition to the 88 rebel bodies found, many more dead and wounded were carried away by the retreating rebels. 

Some 180 kilometers south of the capital, troops clashed with rebels, killing three of them.
