Several large student organizations held protests demanding that the rebels release the leader of All Nepal National Free Students' Union (ANNFSU), who had been kidnapped by the rebels. While the ANNFSU is leftist, the rebels are most hostile to other leftist and communist organizations for not being leftist and communist enough.

Several hundred rebels attacked a police training camp 390 kilometers southwest of the capital. At least 55 have been killed in that action (25 rebels and 16 policemen.) Another 13 rebels were killed in other clashes.
