India has increased security on its northeast border with Nepal. This is to prevent Nepalese rebels from setting up bases in India and cooperating with tribal separatists in India. The Nepalese rebels have been under pressure from the Nepalese army, which has more helicopters and aircraft for finding Maoist camps in the forests. Without safe camps, the Maoists cannot maintain large combat forces.
