In western Nepal, two Maoists were killed by local businessmen they were trying to extort "revolutionary taxes" from. The Maoists try to replace the local government in areas where they have organized a large enough force of gunmen. The new Maoist government tries to get money from its new subjects any way it can. Increasingly, the taxpayers are fighting back, especially when the army or police continue to operate in the area. 

The king cancelled plans to travel to New York for the UN gathering of heads of state. The newly announced  Maoist truce provides new opportunities for the king.
