The twelve northern Nigerian states that adopted Islamic (Sharia) law since 2000 have found that this did not change much. Justice is still corrupt and crime still thrives. The politicians and crime bosses quickly gained control of the Islamic clerics and scholars who conducted the Sharia courts and made justice as unfair as ever. The people in the north are disillusioned with the Sharia law experiment, and with Islam as well.
