The US has threatened Russia with economic sanctions if Russia exports offensive weapons to Iran. Russia has refused to be intimidated, but has said it would consider not providing Iran with offensive weapons. This would include nuclear or chemical weapon technology, or warplanes and rockets capable of making long range attacks. Russia could still sell anti-ship missiles and electronic warfare equipment to Iran, that would threaten US warships in the Persian Gulf.
