  The government reported that casualties in Chechnya from October 1st, 1999 to  December 15th, 2002, were 4,705 Russian troops killed, 13,040 wounded, and 28  missing,  There are two separate Russian armed forces fighting in Chechnya; army and Interior Ministry. The army lost  2,738  killed and 6,439 wounded, with the rest of the casualties were suffered by  Interior Ministry and the Federal Security Service. The same report stated that 14,113 Chechen fighters were killed during this period.
