Russian forces in Chechnya claimed to have averted six terrorist acts in Chechnya over the past 24 hours, since sappers defused six landmines specifically targeting civilians, although an off-road vehicle carrying special police forces hit a landmine (but suffered no casualties) on the 15th.

However, seven rebels were killed and two houses burnt down in the village of Dyshne-Vedeno on the night of the 14th. That afternoon, the village of Novogroznenskoye was shot up by unidentified gunmen. Two local residents were killed in the attack, while three houses and several cars parked in the street were destroyed by the gunfire. - Adam Geibel
